What makes a good Google review reply (and what kills you)

The best way to reply to a Google review: thank the customer by name, mention one specific detail from their review, keep it under three sentences, and — for negative reviews — stay calm, apologise for their experience, and move the conversation offline. Never argue, never copy-paste the same line, and never reveal private details.

For 5-star reviews

Use their name, reference what they actually said, slip your business name and town in once (it helps you rank), and invite them back.
